The Alladin pantomime at the Cambridge Arts Theatre
The Alladin pantomime at the Cambridge Arts Theatre

A busy day completing chores at The Hayling View and then off to Hinchingbrooke Hospital for a fitting of some surgical foot pads and then off with the family to see the ‘Aladdin’ Pantomime at the Cambridge Arts Theatre and back so that Diana could take the girls to the Brownie's Carol Service and party afterwards and I could attend the District Planning Committee.

There were some disturbing planning decisions which we could not successfully oppose. A small IRA bomb explosion at Clapham Junction led to all of the British Rail main line stations being closed down today and the capital was in chaos again

I had a busy day ahead of me this morning when I woke up and begun to get myself ready. There was also no sign of the gardener and so I went down to feed the doves before leaving. The first stop was my appointment for a fitting of some surgical foot pads at Hinchingbrooke Hospital. The weather was much milder with all of the accumulation of frost melted but all surfaces were dirty and black with the salt and grime of recent days. I met another lady from the village on entering the hospital and she had been admitted with acute abdominal pains and was worried about not knowing what her problem was.

My appointment was very quick and efficient. They had prepared an insole for each foot and they were tried out and accepted. I doubt the value of them, but I will have to give them a go. Then home in time to collect the family and drive them off to Cambridge for the pantomime "Aladdin" at the Arts Theatre, stopping for lunch on the way. Some trouble parking but we then enjoyed the show, with the children entering properly into the spirit of traditional pantomime and shouting, singing and yelling when called upon. A dash back to Paxton for a quick tea before Diana took the girls to the Brownie's Carol Service and party afterwards and I went to the District Planning Committee. This meeting did not finish until after 10.00pm and there were some disturbing planning decisions which we could not successfully oppose. Diana and Daniel were still up when I got back and so we were all somewhat late to bed. A small IRA bomb explosion at Clapham Junction led to all of the British Rail main line stations being closed down today and the capital was in chaos again.
