Jack popped by on his way to the Black Horse pub

Receiving the Jewson’s deliveries after a cold and frosty start to the day when I had worked inside Harnser fitting bathroom skirting board. Some time staining more cladding as Jack popped by on his way to the Black Horse pub.

Then leaving for Paxton, calling in on Mum for a short while who was as well as her general health could allow and pleased to be back home in Stanton

It was a very cold and frosty start to the day and quite unseasonably so, as it felt that winter was well under way. I went out to work but, it being too cold to be outside at first, I spent the early part of the morning cutting and fitting sections of bathroom skirting board. The Jewson’s driver arrived with my last consignment of Masterboard and also with most of the Dimplex electric heaters. Once the frost had cleared and sun had come out, I resumed staining the cladding and managed to complete two more layers of planks, six in each layer. There remained still so much to do. Jack came by and we chatted before he went off to The Black Horse.

Ropes Hill Dyke is much quieter now that the holiday season has come to an end and the area is full of wildlife. I had fun stalking both a heron and a wood pigeon to see how far I could go before they spotted me. In late afternoon, I packed up and left Heronshaw, turning off the power and water in both buildings before setting off. A snack meal from McDonalds on the ring road as I passed Norwich and then I called Mum and made a 45min visit to see her on the way home. She was fine and as well as her general health could allow, managing in her own home and relieved to be back there after her visit to stay with Freda.
