After a storm overnight with heavy rain, thunder and lightning, it was humid and muggy again to walk Sam and then have lunch at Wroxham Barns.

Returning to Paxton to find that Daniel had not looked after the swimming pool and garden and Bill had not been cutting the lawns.

Moving back and forwards between our main and holiday homes is always a trauma and I suppose I was wrong to expect anything different this time. It was stormy overnight with heavy rain, thunder and lightning but all this had cleared up by the time I awoke and prepared for the day. Out with Sam in shirt-sleeves as the humidity was up and weather muggy again and had a good walk with him. Even after our long walk of yesterday, he was still bouncing about and keen as ever.

Once back, and having had breakfast, we started to pack up with the plan that we would try to get ready to leave this morning and have Sunday Lunch at Wroxham Barns; but we would not fret and declared that we would be content to return to Horning after if need be. In the event, things went well and without any upset (apart from Debbie losing her contact lenses and finding them again) and we had a nice lunch and left in good humour. I thought that we were thus spared any trauma but did not reckon with what we found on arrival.

Daniel had allowed the swimming pool to go green and the crop of plumbs on the tree in the back garden hung so low that Sam could not be let out until they were cleared. I was surprised to find the garden without lawns cut, hedges trimmed and other jobs done and made plans to talk to Bill about it in the morning. Then Della threw a tantrum to boot, and things were all awry. After tea and tending to the dog, I had a long chat with Daniel about all the problems and found him very agitated and not easy to talk reason with.

The evening catching up on some urgent calls and then to share a bed with Diana for the first time in a long while, determined to take advantage of the privacy. Daiman Hill won his first Grand Prix motor race today after Williams team-mate Alain Prost ran into problems on the warm-up lap and had to start at the back of the field.
